Individual Counselling for Youth and Adults

Individual Creative Arts Therapy for Youth & Adults

Creative arts therapy can be an effective treatment modality for individuals struggling with a wide variety of challenges including (but not limited to):

  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Emotion regulation difficulties
  • ADHD
  • Difficulty navigating major life transitions
  • Loss/ grief
  • Relationship difficulties (family, friendships, romantic relationships)
  • Low-self esteem

While traditional talk therapies may be more accessible to youth and adults than children, conversation is only one of many ways to express and explore challenging aspects of life and self. Engaging with creative materials in the context of therapy can serve to help individuals access and externalize aspects of their experience that they may struggle to articulate verbally, or serve as a platform from which to dive into conversation. My approach to working with youth and adults is also rooted in principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy, which seeks to explore the way in which previous life experiences (especially early childhood experiences) may impact and influence current thoughts and behaviours.

For individuals who have little experience with the arts, don’t worry! One need not be “skilled” in the arts in order to engage and benefit from this process (not product) oriented approach. The standard session fee for a 50-minute creative arts therapy session is $143.75 (125.00 + 18.75 GST/HST).
